Obsession Custom Calls makes heirloom quality, hand-made, Turkey Pot Calls, Strikers, Box Calls, Pot Call Conditioners, and we also produce Stabilized, Dyed, and Cast Acrylic and Hybrid, Duck Call and Pen Blanks. The company is owned by Derrick Stuckey. Derrick has over 35 years of experience working with wood. In addition to hand crafting Turkey calls Derrick also builds custom cabinets and furniture.
Our focus is on producing unique products from a variety of woods, yet selling them at an affordable price. Derrick looks at a Turkey call as a musical instrument, because if you think about it, that is what it is. We use the same finish that you would use on a guitar or a piano. This is a lacquer based finish that will not dull the natural sound of the wood. Strikers, Pot Calls, and Box Calls are finished with 4 coats of lacquer.
We take great pride in the appearance of our products, the most common description we here at shows is “those are to pretty to hunt with”. Derrick first started with box calls several years ago, then progressed to strikers, and then to pot calls. The motivation was born from the frustration of going to a hunting store, paying $40 to $50 for a Turkey call or $30 for a striker only to get it back home, run it and then stick it on a shelf with the rest of the collection of disappointing calls.
While we agree, some CNC made calls can produce realistic Turkey sounds, it is a much more satisfying experience to hunt with a quality hand-made call that your hunting buddies will be jealous of, and you can pass down to your children.
